Association of Pathologists of Tanzania (APT) is the association of all professionals who are resident within the United Republic of Tanzania practicing the specialist of Pathology.
APT is responsible for coordinating, enhancing and strengthening all medical sciences which fall under the umbrella of pathology inclusive of parasitology; clinical chemistry; hematology and blood transfusion; histopathology and cytology; immunology; microbiology including bacteriology, virology and mycology; biochemistry, molecular biology, neuropathology; Forensic pathology and medical jurisprudence.
APT is affiliated with several global partner agency and federations for strengthening the association and enhancing best practices in Tanzania. These includes Association of Pathologists of East Central and Southern Africa (APECSA); College of Pathologists of East Central and Southern Africa (COPECSA); East Africa Division of International Academy of Pathologists (EADIAP).
APT main objective is to have the network of pathologists throughout the country, sharing information and providing update on the current developments in diagnosis and expert advice to the government on all issues pertaining to pathology.
